23 November 2024: Advent Concert

As winter settles in Spires Music presents an afternoon of sublime music in the warm and welcoming surroundings of Baginton Road URC. Come and hear the Spires Philharmonic Orchestra and soloists Victoria Meteyard (Soprano), Audrey Mullender (Soprano), Heather Nadin (Mezzo-Soprano), Gaynor Keeble (Mezzo-Soprano), Edward Harrisson (Tenor), Peter Lidbetter (Bass). The strings will soar in Vaughan Williams' Five Variants of Dives and Lazarus followed by a rare performance of Saint-Saëns petite and baroque inspired Oratorio de Noël. Handel's energetic tour de force, Dixit Dominus, leaves the second half of the concert brimming over with energy as soloists, chorus and orchestra demonstrate their capabilites to the max. After all that energy Bach's famous Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring brings our Advent concert to a soothing close.
