The Ordering of Moses - R. Nathaniel Dett

Hi all

I came across this piece whilst exploring the incredible range of music from non-white composers. It really moved me and I have since bought this CD recording and the vocal score. The emotional power of this music is immense and Dett's inventive use of Spiritual's mixed with Western Classical romanticism is ingenious.

Have a listen and see what you think. You can follow the manuscript of the full score here - https://imslp.org/wiki/The_Ordering_of_Moses_(Dett%2C_Robert_Nathaniel) but beware, this is his first version. The recording has several alterations but is interesting to see.

(The video should be a playlist of 15 videos that covers the whole work. If it doesn't not work on this blogpost then you should be able to find the playlist directly on YouTube here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lwP6BfxS9SM&list=PLFKlQ19It9ghYDjCEFC0RStwiX9N_e6Sk)

All the best
